The Fearless Leader

I don’t know about fearless since there are times I can’t sleep for worrying about the attendance at CR or whether people will like our ideas.
When Margie bowed out of doing CR due to family problems, I stepped forward with Cybil, Karen, Nils and the support of everyone who wanted to keep CR going but didn’t want to do the work. It’s been a learning experience for all of us. It’s also frustrating, incredibly rewarding, and a lot of hard work to keep everything together. My hat is off to Margie and all the friends who helped her get started.
That said, the reason I wanted to keep CR going is because it fills a need that no other conference can fill. RWA is a blast because I get to interact with friends and author friends. It’s just too hectic and too big and your chances of seeing people are sporadic at best. CR allows me to talk about romance with a group of friends in an informal way.
Yes, I consider everyone I’ve met through CR as a friend. I love the chance to just talk endlessly with others enjoying good food and company.
We hope you will consider joining us in Kansas City next year. We’ve had some new ideas of ways to keep things moving that we will try.
